From banging on kitchen dishes to the mixing desk.
Off the clock: I love good food, spending time in nature, and reading classical literature — my favourite book is Crime and Punishment.
I have a passion for how and why sound and music influence people — the communication that lives in rhythm, harmony, melody and artistic expression. I'm an audio engineer, music producer and professional musician.
Kitchen percussion
As a child I banged on doors and closets and used glasses and dishes as percussion — which got me sent to music school by my parents.
Classical foundation
Mainly classical percussion, but also piano, harmony, counterpoint and many other subjects that shaped how I hear music.
Orchestras & a rock band
I played in wind, chamber and symphony orchestras throughout music school — and, of course, in a rock band.
Discovering jazz at Berklee
At Berklee's Percussion Festival I found jazz through masterclasses with Harvey Mason, Victor Lewis, Reuben Rogers and other greats — my taste expanded drastically.
Playing & organising
I practised drums and listened to jazz like crazy, then started playing regularly — living from performing and organising concerts.
How & why things sound
At the same time I was discovering audio engineering and production, curious about how and why something sounds the way it does.
SAE Institute, Munich
I decided to study audio production at the world-renowned SAE Institute in Munich, Germany.
F.O.H. at Unterfahrt
As a student I worked front-of-house at Unterfahrt, one of Europe's most famous jazz clubs.
Sound branding & therapy
A semester-long research project on the impact of sound and its use in music therapy opened up the world of sound branding for me.
Bavarian Radio-Television
I started as an audio producer at Bavarian Radio-Television, then trained further in modern media production.
Media producer & nl sound
I now handle modern audio, video and cross-media productions of every kind — and bring all of it to nl sound clients.
